For Cathy's "School Days" challenge, I made a chalkboard. Do I get bonus points because it looks like a third grader made it? LOL. I tried to do a fancy frame with mitered corners, but it resulted in a crooked frame with one corner that didn't fit (hence the little Happy Birthday tag in the corner of the card).
I was inspired by Tonda's card from this week's color challenge. And I thought that the Crayon Alphabet that I just discovered my love for would make a really great chalkboard lettering. My gosh, this took me forever to stamp! I used my ExactlyWrite Address Guide to make my lines straight for my letters and my Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp and emboss one letter at a time. Looks pretty good though, doesn't it?
I wanted to color the cake with crayons as part of the use something you would find at school theme, but the crayon wouldn't show up on the black, so I got out my chalk pastels to color in the cake.
Seriously, this is so crazy lopsided, but I still like it. Although it took forever, it was really fun to make.

This is so cool and I love your frame. I think those corners made me stop quilting. Lol. I never could get them straight but I love the frame and wouldn't have know you had difficulty if you hadn't stated it.
Glad I inspired you since you have inspired me on more then one occasion.

Adorable and I'm impressed with embossing one letter at a time! Nice job with that. It's so hard to not over emboss the previous images. The font is perfect for the chalkboard as is your frame.

You embossed one letter at a time! Bless your patience. If I tried that, I think I'd burn my card. Chalkboard is, of course, perfect fit a rocking classroom feel.

Great card regardless of the chore as it came together beautifully! I think your printing on the chalkboard looks more like an adult at least better than mine! Well done, Jen.

You, (and I mean everyone) should not mention what you think as faults. Your card is so adorable!! It looks just perfect to me. I love your chalkboard technique and the frame is awesome. A real winner of a card Jen!!
