This week's Ways to Use It challenge was to get out an old stamp that I love and use it. The Wild Rose stamp set came out in 2006/07 and I've had the set since about that time. I loved it when I saw it but I don't use it much because it is wood mounted and two step which means I have to use the stamp-a-ma-jig to layer up - or guess and that usually doesn't go very well. Of course, I'm not always the best with the stamp-a-ma-jig either! As a matter of fact, I stamped this up and had finished it when I decided I wanted to darken the big rose. I didn't get it lined up perfectly so what you see here is the opposite side of the paper or attempt #2.
I used an old, but loved, ink color too. Sadly, I think my Orchid Opulence is drying up. I stamped the big rose, masked it, and stamped the leaves. Then I stamped the greenery for the base of the buds and the buds. I heat embossed the sentiment. After that, I realized that there were some smudges of ink on the card so I splattered it with watered down Orchid Opulence and Garden Green to, hopefully, mask the smudges. I sponged the edge with Garden Green and then layered it with a very thin layer of black, adhering it all to an Orchid Opulence base. I also added some Nuvo drops and Wink of Stella here and there.
I still really love this set. I need to get brave and un-mount my wood mount stamps!
Thanks for looking.

Love your colors Catherine. Lovely birthday card. Once, you unmount one stamp, you will not have a problem. Great job camoflaging the smudges with splatters. One would never know.

A beautiful flower and card. Love the color of that bloom. I need to do some un-mounting, also.

This rose is also one of my favorites, but like you I don't use it much. I love the color you used. I've got re-inker. The black outlining layer really makes it pop. I think it's a good thing you had to splatter it with diluted colors because I really love that detail in it and it did a good job of camouflaging the smudges because I don't see any.

Beautiful stamp. I bought this set a couple,e of years ago at a tag sale for $5.00. Its never been used. I pulled it out today to unmount. It looks like it would be hard to stamp that is why I shied away from buying it. With the Misti all is possible. I love the card and the splatters surrounding it.

That stamp is an oldie but goodie for sure, and the colour reminds me of one my FIL used to have near his front door. Carolyn (snowmanqueen) described in her write-up how she adapted woodmount stamps for a Misti. Essentially she does unmount them but then they stick back onto the blocks for storage. Would that help you?

I totally understand not being able to line up stamps when we are doing the two step stamping and have turned over my fair share of papers too. Love the colors and this great image. Thank you so much for playing along and bringing this goodie stamp.
