Made as a Design Team card for Try Stampin' -Or Not- On Tuesday sketch challenge #339: http://trystampinontuesday.blogspot.com/ with an optional theme of "Fall Fun".
I started out thinking about the Stampin' Up! Designer Series Paper (DSP) that had a fall theme. I recalled that the "Motley Crew" papers had all sorts of coordinating Fall/Halloween designs. I chose the one that had the blowing leaves above a line of Halloween creatures. So this set my colors and designs for the card.
The blowing leaves/creatures paper was cut 4"x 5-1/4". Upon this I glued a 4"x 1-3/4" strip of trees with scary eyes peeking out from behind them. I matted the piece with Basic Black cut 1/4" wider than the trees paper (also glued on with Tombow glue).
The sketch's required off-kilter 2-1/2" square was cut from Tangerine Tango cardstock and glued down. I then wrapped the black sparkly ribbon around the card panel and attached on the back.
I wanted to continue carrying out the color scheme from the Leaves/Creatures DSP, so chose Crushed Curry as my base cardstock for the "Spooky" sentiment. Solid stamps are ALWAYS a challenge to get good solid coverage, so I used my MISTI with Versafine Onyx Black ink, and ended up re-inking and re-stamping four times to ensure no "empty spots" showed in the circle. What a difference the MISTI made!!! Using Versafine ink also helped make the narrow script nice and crisp.
The "Spooky" circle was cut out using a 2-1/4" SU Layering Circles Framelits Die. I wanted to leave a "matting" of yellow around the circle to emphasize it. The circle itself is 2" in diameter. Finally, the circle was attached to the orange square using Adhesive Foam Strips to give the card some depth (since there are so many glued-down flat elements on the card).
This combined front panel was then glued to the Bermuda Bay card base using Tombow glue.
