As soon as I saw the sketch with a scalloped circle in the lower half of the card, I knew I wanted to do this as a folding card using Stampin' Up! Circle Car Thinlits dies that cut not only the card outline, but the circle centered on one of the two folds in the card. I added an extra fold. A photo of this die set, and a short video on how to use it can be found at: http://stampwithjenn.com/2013/08/new...card-dies.html
Since it's August already, I wanted to start making my supply of Christmas cards for this year. That led me to the Stampin' Up! stamp set that had a holiday circle image called "Among the Branches". The sentiment "Making Spirits Bright" was stamped using Versamark ink using my MISTI to allow me to stamp the image repeatedly until I got solid ink coverage for the stamp. (If you don't get solid Versamark ink in these types of stamps, when you heat emboss it there will be spots that aren't covered.) Because the width of the letters in the sentiment were so narrow, I sprinkled a detail white embossing powder over the Versamark inked image. and heat set it with my heat gun to create a solid glossy surface. I cut this image out with a 2" circle punch.
The SU Circle Card Thinlit die created the green circle on the card front. The die set also has a scalloped circle that fits perfectly atop the green circle. So, I glued the heat embossed circle onto the Real Red die cut scalloped circle, then mounted this element to the green circle using adhesive foam strips to give the card front added interest.
The right side of the card front created by the Circle Card die was covered with a red/green piece of SU Nordic Noel Designer Series Paper (as was the back of the card front).
The sketch challenge had a horizontal strip behind the circle, so I cut 3/4" wide strip that I glued across the right front panel, as well as the left front panel. The curved edge of the left strip is almost impossible to cut by hand, so I inserted the red strip in my Big Shot and cut circular edge using the same die I used to cut out the card base itself. It made for a perfect fit!
I finished the card off by gluing a piece of Whisper White cardstock on the inside of the folded card so I could write my holiday greeting there when I was ready to send it to a friend or relative.
