Phew, there's a lot going on in my page and also on the 2nd page of my 2 part LO.
The LOs are for the VSBN July Tour de France Challenge. I started them at the beginning of the tour and by the time I had finished (due to a short holiday and other commitments) I felt as though I had been on one of the bikes myself and worn each of the yellow, green and red polka dot jerseys. What an adventure in arriving at my final LOs. LOL.
As you can see, I'm not a CAS scrapper and love texture and there's a lot in my LOs. Unfortunately the photos don't do the pages justice. I love textures...sad and weird I know LOL.
So how did I arrive with these what some would term messy LOs .....after distressing/tearing 2 pages out of an old patterned paper stash, flowers on the bg paper were coloured using my Zig pens...in the colours of the Tour jerseys of course
There had to be red polka dots somewhere on the LO and I didn't have the right paper, so out came a circle stencil and red ink and voila, red polka dot paper...stuck behind areas I'd happily stuck the scissors into or torn ....you can get away with anything in mixed media!
Paste and another stencil out and I'm loving the texture and messiness. I'd picked up some builders tape after watching a video on using this in mixed media and was itching to try it...yep lets stick some down on the pages. I was practically singing with joy by now, so out comes the gesso again. Unfortunately you can't see much of it in the photo, but trust me, it's there
Inks sprayed in more jersey colours....I got a little carried away again with my inking...oops, when I remembered I'd just had some happy mail delivered from a local store that offers the most amazing chipboards.
As the patterned paper had chicken wire printed on it, I opted for some chicken wire chipboard. Out came the scissors and I'm snipping away. Gesso and embossing powder out and before I knew it, my chipboard was now a sparkly black with white gesso peeping through (so wish you could see it properly in the photo).
By now I was thinking anything was possible on this LO and why not just go for it.
B&W emphera out, cut, snipped and pasted behind my photos and B&W butterflies cut out of more patterned paper found in my stash. It still was lacking something, so more chipboards (chains) out and sprayed in pink and more sparkly embossing powder (I got a little carried away with the 2nd page )
Mmmm...still it needed something else...so out come the flowers and I'm twirling the stems (saw this on a video) and I'm cutting and sticking flowers everywhere when I realise this was a LO for one of our son's albums, but who says guys can't have flowers
By now I was thinking maybe it had enough layers when I spied a bag of cheesecloth I'd brought into my craft room recently.....and before I knew it I'd popped some of that behind the layers. Oooooh, it was scrumptious LOL
All it needed now was some bling so out come the rhinestones and was I finished.......well....not quite...I thought I'd add a few splashes of black....and maybe white inks....oh dear, maybe I should have left this part out but too late and no amount of dabbing with my paper towel will fix it, but hey you can do anything in mixed media and it gives it character...my story and I'm sticking to it.
Now I'm finished, but just before I stamp some lace on it....which ended up not showing properly and makes it look as though its got black dropped onto it. Oh well, I tried and boy did I have fun even if it did take me sometime to get there....and my craft room looked as though a cyclone had gone through it LOL.
Hope you've enjoyed the "ride" with me.
Thanks for taking time to look at my LO.
Happy day

Awesome textured layers! You did a marvelous job drawing the eye through here with how you placed your pops of the red polka dot paper. So many goodies - impressive design. Great memory scrapping.
