DD7ABC24C: the alphabet challenge is on the letter C and the double challenge was to do color blocking with the stamp block. I have the color blocking, cup, coffee, circles for the letter C.
IC606: we were to take inspiration from Jennifer McGuire's blog. I love her posts and when I saw her block watercolor stamping, I wanted to try it. This seemed the perfect time. She used distress inks that are so much brighter than the oxides but I like the oxides for the coffee card. Here is the link to her blog: http://www.jennifermcguireink.com/20...atercolor.html I thought about sewing around my color block but it didn't really seem to go with this card so I didn't.
I inked up my block with the four oxide inks colors listed above and stamped using Jennifer's method of pressing down, weighting it down, and leaving it for about five minutes. I didn't really like the first layer so I did it again since I was using oxide inks. It was better but need a bit more Spiced Marmalade and Fossilized Amber. I added just those two and it almost gives it a glow through the chalky haze - kind of like morning vision before coffee or tea!
After letting it dry, I stamped the images from Morning Cup and white embossed them. My DD didn't think I should use the ribbon but decided she liked it. The watercolor panel is popped up on craft foam.
When the image panel was done with the ribbon attached and on the Early Espresso card base (which is stamped with the coffee ring from Timeless Textures for some texture but it doesn't seem to show up much in the photo), I decided it needed a little something more. I added the sequins and the flower (I've had this package of flowers for quite a while and this is the first time I've used them), colored in the heart on the cup with a white gel pen, and DD liked it better as did I.
Thanks for looking!

Ha Ha too funny! I was shaking my head and rolling my eyes over this sentiment! I like the ribbon since it goes so well with the sequins; good call to use it~

Ooh, I love that background color that you got with just the hint of orange, and so your ribbon ties in nicely. Your background is a good coffee color. Great embossed images too. That sentiment is so funny!

Catherine, your distress oxide bg is fabulous and it really highlights your wonderful stamped images. These sentiments could not be more perfect for this card. I love the copper ribbon and sequins and your white flower that coordinates with your white embossed coffee images. Very nicely done for the letter C alphabet challenge! Fun! ~Karen.
Pretty card and the color looks just like coffee too. It's not a drug but it's sure addictive to many. Glad I only take my coffee doses in caramel frappe's from Mc Donald's or from Starbucks mocha frappe into with caramel walls lol
