Card is loosely based on a card my Virginia Stampin' Up! Demonstrator featured in a stamp camp. I loved the card so much, I never sent it to anyone! My card is a different size and different colors, but it is just as lovely!
The card base is Stampin' Up! Whisper White Thick Cardstock. I created the main front panel by running a 4x5-1/4 piece of Bermuda Bay through my Big Shot using the retired SU "Lattice" embossing folder. I glued this to the card base.
The banner element was created using the middle three dies from the SU "Banners" Framelits set. The largest was diecut from Basic Gray cardstock, the middle from the Whisper White thick cardstock, the the top banner from Bermuda Bay cardstock. I used the smallest feather die from the "Feathers" Framelits set to cut out a hole in the Bermuda Bay banner. I then centered that banner over the white banner, and lightly penciled the borders of the opening. I used these pencil marks to tape down the Washi tape in alternating patterns so that the tape extended just a little outside the lines.
I then created the banner "sandwich" by gluing the white panel atop the gray, then using adhesive foam strips on the back of the feather cutout piece to mount it atop the Washi tape (making sure now white showed through the feather opening).
The diecut feathers were first stamped with Bermuda Bay and Basic Gray ink onto white and Bermuda Bay cardstock, then cut out using the smallest die from the "Feathers" framelits set. These were mounted using Mini Glue Dots atop the feather cutout banner.
The hardware was from a pair of ear rings I had from MANY years ago where I had lost one of the pair. So I disassembled the other ear ring and put in in my stash for future use (like this!). It had a tiny hole at the top, so I threaded a piece of DMC embroidery thread through it. The thread was polyester, so I used my heat cut to melt the ends to keep them from unraveling.
The card can be used for just about any occasion since I chose not to put a sentiment on the front, and the colors are non-gender. I really liked how it turned out... I may even SEND this one to somebody :-D
