Made as a Design Team card for Try Stampin' -Or Not- On Tuesday Sketch Challenge #327: http://trystampinontuesday.blogspot.com/ with an optional theme of "all bolds".
When I saw the sketch, the Stampin' Up! "Amazing Birthday" stamp set came immediately to mind. This set has the nice vertical stamp that you can do multiple colors, then layer to give it depth. The two colors I used were SU Bermuda Bay and Cherry Cobbler. The big bold solid areas of this stamp is always a challenge to stamp, but using my MISTI, I stamped the Cherry Cobbler vertical panel two to three times to ensure good coverage and no faded areas. The MISTI is perfect for this! Then I used the paper trimmer and paper snips to cut the "TODAY" and "AMAZING" parts out of the Cherry Cobbler panel, and layered them onto the Bermuda Bay stamped image using Adhesive Foam Strips.
The horizontal Cherry Cobbler striped banner was also stamped multiple times with the MISTI. Because of the horizontal nature of the card, I needed the banner to be longer than the single stamped image, so I stamped two banners. I cut the "tail" off one banner and a section of the flat end of the other banner, then stretching then to go all the way across the card. Then glued them to the Bermuda Bay panel so that the vertical panel would cover the gap between the two ends.
The small oval "MAKE" portion of the vertical stamp was inked with Bermuda Bay and stamped three times using my MISTI (I wanted it darker than the main Bermuda Bay panel it would sit on top of). I then hand cut the oval with paper snips and attached it with a piece of Adhesive Foam Strip.
The finalized vertical panel was attached over the Cherry Cobbler banner using Foam Adhesive Strips.
The final step was to attach the brads... which I thought would be simple, but was NOT! Each brad had four teeth, so positioning them even with one another was a challenge. Two teeth would have made this task MUCH easier.
I think this card would be suitable for a guy or teen birthday.
