I wanted to make a bright happy Mother's Day card for my mother in law, who has embraced me as a second daughter from the jump and been completely positive and supportive of mine and my wife's relationship, which means the world to me. This week's color challenge game me the perfect palette, and I decided to set it all against a black background to make the colors really pop.
I started with a white pre-made card and covered the front with black cardstock (because I hate making dark cards and then having to attach a liner for any message. All the stamps are from the same set of Studio G dollar stamps from years ago. I'd never used them and boy, howdy were they tough to get off the backing!
I stamped the larger flower on scraps of bright blue and bright pink paper, and the smaller flowers on a scrap of white, then the leaves on green, and cut everything out with a craft knife. I attached the flowers to the card and added the bling/brad centers.
I swiped the green metallic pen from my wife's coloring book stuff to make the stems, then added the leaves. I attached a strip of the striped paper (the inspiration for the whole rest of the card) across the bottom and rick rack across the top. Then finished by stamping the sentiment on a scrap of white cardstock and layering it on to a scrap of the striped paper and attaching it.
Thanks for looking!
