Made as a Design Team card for Try Stampin' -Or Not- On Tuesday sketch challenge #326: http://trystampinontuesday.blogspot.com/ with an optional them of "wiggles and waves".
When I saw the circle element and the optional theme of waves, I knew right away that I wanted to use the shore birds stamp from Stampin' Up!'s "Wetland" set.
The birds were stamped with Early Espresso ink onto Soft Sky cardstock, then die cut with a 1-7/8" circle die. I used a Blender Pen to add more detail to the birds' shadows, then sponged the "sand" with Crumb Cake. The edges of the circle were also sponged - Pacific Point around the top half of the circle, and Crumb Cake around the bottom. The stamped circle was then mounted on a 2-3/8" circle mat from Dapper Denim cardstock.
The wavy background was created by taping together a 2"x4" Crumb Cake panel, and a 3-1/4"x 4" Marina Mist panel before running them together through my Big Shot using the SU Seaside Embossing Folder to create the "waves". This panel was glued to the Dapper Denim card base.
The banner was first stamped using a Technique Tuesday "Thinking of You" greeting from their Long Stemmed Sentiments using Pacific Point ink, then trimmed to 5"x3/4", and a banner point snipped with scissors. This banner was glued to the embossed panel using Tombow glue, then the matted shorebird circle attached over it using Adhesive Foam Strips to add depth.
Finally, three SU Pacific Point Candy Dots were attached to the upper right of the card front per the sketch requirement.
The colors I chose are kind of somber, so the card would be useful to send as a sympathy card, or to someone going through a hard time who needs to know they are on your mind.
The card came together rather quickly, and since it doesn't require a lot of coloring or tight alignment, I am giving it a difficulty level of "2".
