I have a goal to try to do the Inspiration Challenge for each week in 2017, but since I made the goal recently, I decided to go backwards to the beginning of 2017 as well as keep up going forward! I had been going through the Featured Stampers' galleries and tagging my favorites to get back to, but the Free For All Friday challenge this week was a good motivator to get in there and start making some cards, and I got through all of January's Featured Stampers!
The final FS for January is Snowmanqueen. Congrats Carolyn!
I'm pretty happy with the card I ended up with, but boy was it a struggle! I started with a kraft card and cut three strips from the Echo Park "I Love Christmas" 6x6 pad I just got this week (wanted to make a real start on 2017 Christmas but was SO TIRED of all my old Christmas papers!). I love using pads because you can pick anything and it will go together!
I ripped the ends of the strips and attached them with adhesive tape runner. Then I stamped the tree in olive ink on a white scrap and cut it out. The image has a beaded garland looping around the tree, and I set that off by dotting it with a red Sharpie. I added a bling gem sticker for the star at the top.
Now at this point the next step on Carolyn's card was some looping thread behind the image. Doh! I had just been rearranging my craft stuff and all my flosses and craft threads were shoved away in a box. That's okay, I'll use red and white baker's twine -- I could find EVERY color of baker's twine EXCEPT red and white! Argh! So I skipped that step. On to the sentiment.
One reason I had picked this card to CASE is that the sentiment on Carolyn's card was "Believe" and I have a "believe" stamp that hadn't been used in ages. So I inked it up to stamp and did a quick test stamp on my working scrap paper. It didn't even look like a word! Inked it up really good and tried again with same result. Flipped over the stamp and really looked at it -- brittle. The rubber had completely dried out and the "b" was curled up into a distorted mess! Wah!
So, fall back, regroup--I decided to use the Merry Christmas stamp I'd just used on a different card. Inked it with the olive ink and stamped it and called it done. AND called it a night because obviously it was time to knock off and get some sleep!
Congrats again Carolyn! I hope you had a great week as Featured Stamper!
TFL!
