Today's ways to used it challenge is using our own handwriting hosted by Sabrina.
Using the classic John Lennon song I decided to go in the direction of nostalgic hippy style!
I printed a peace sign from the internet, fussycut it to and adhered to mixed media paper. I sponged the distressed inks, lifted the peace sign and went over it with dried marigolds.
I should've have stopped there as it really had a hippy vibe.
Instead, I embossed it with the music sheet ef then brayered black ink. At this point it looked way too budy, but continued with scribing the words in purple felt tip.
Admiring Sabrina's signature style of edging, I used a gold paint pen, using small circles around the perimeter, then added stickers over the gold.
Popped it up on black CS.
It still is way too busy up close, buts looks so-so from a distance. I will use it as wall art in my craft room as this song is an all time top favorite.
Thanks for looking.

I'm trying to imagine what it looked like before you did the embossing, Jeannie. I like it so much just as it is, for me the embossed music and black sponging it adds a lot of texture and interest. I know what you mean, though - sometimes I'm not very good at knowing when to stop, and once you've put work in, you don't want (well, I dont!) to waste it, so you just forge ahead to achieve something that you're happy with. I'm honoured to have inspired your edging, too .

Well I like the addition of the sheet music since you were using the words of a song. ( I like that old thing too). Soft pretty colors in the bg and your peace sign definitely comes through.

Very very cool! I'm very impressed with your diy stencil. It worked great! And I love how you made the drawn out "s-a-a-a-ying" to go along with the sheet music. So clever!
