The sketch had three vertical elements of varying widths and ombre transitions.
Rather than simple lines, I chose to create a more festive appearance using SU Adorning Accents dies to create three successively narrower curves. The paper I selected were reds (after all, this IS a Christmas card!). The widths of card stock I started with were:
Cherry Cobbler: 1-1/4"
Real Red: 1"
Rose Red: 3/4"
First, use your die to cut the curves ON BOTH LONG SIDES of your red paper. Then, using the SU Paper Piercing Pack Essentials and Paper Piercing Tool to guide you, pierce holes in the die cut strips. For the widest strip I pierced holes on either side of the template curve. For the middle strip I pierced just one row of holes. No holes were pierced in the narrowest strip.
Then, emboss the ridge using the Adorning Accents embossing folder (I did the paper piercing first, then ran through the embossing folder on my first one. All the holes got smashed closed, so you will have to re-pierce them). Since the embossing folder creates a ridge on each strip, you can't use the folder first, then pierce the holes because the template won't lay flat on the strip to allow even spacing of holes.
These strips were then glued down to the card base using Tombow glue, and the short edges trimmed even with the card base edge.
Finally, I stamped the "be merry" sentiment on a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock, then used the label die from the SU Circle Card Thinlits set. Since there is only one size for the label die in this set, I placed the die on a scrap piece of Old Olive and using a pencil, drew around the OUTSIDE of the die to create a mat the same shape as the label. This was hand cut using paper snips.
The matted label was mounted over the vertical strips using Adhesive Foam Strips.
