I had to really wrestle with the other card I did with this challenge, trying this and that before I got it to where I wanted it. In that case I started out with a vision and worked it til it got there.
This was actually my first attempt at the Color challenge, where I started with one vision, went off the rails but immediately saw another way to go and it came together like that (*snaps fingers*). I feel good when I wrestle with a card and get it where I want eventually, but I LOVE when serendipity happens in a flash like this card.
I started by layering the indigo blue paper on a white card, then, inspired by Card Crazy/Denie's entry, decided to make a sponged background. I did light to dark in the 3 shades from the color challenge and ended up with a background that didn't match the birthday card idea I had AT ALL.
However, as I looked at it, I thought "Northern Lights" and immediately thought of these foam stickers, especially the happy skating penguin. Dug him out and stuck him on, added the sparkly snowflakes, and finished by stamping the sentiment on a small tag and wrapping the top layer in silver/white twine with the tag strung onto it. Then attached the layer to the card.
This didn't take too long and I have lots more of those stickers (one of those $5 buckets of sticker that have a huge amount in them!) so I will probably knock out a few more and put them away for next Christmas!

Thank you, glad you were inspired by my card. This came out beautiful. I see the Northern Lights, great job! Your little penguin is adorable, lucky find with that one! Love the added twine and how you have attached your sentiment. Nicely done!
