To make the rustic background on this card you need to score the piece on the diagonal at every 1/4" in both directions. Using a basic gray ink pad, put it direct to paper and run it over the paper several times until you have the coverage you want. The butterfly really is too big for this image panel, but I put a pretty big smudge on the panel so the butterfly hides my oopsie (sigh). To make the butterfly, I used ken oliver color burst powders on a scrap of paper and sprayed it with water and allowed it to dry. Then I took Elmer's spray adhesive and sprayed this water colored piece, then immediately poured glitter over the top of it. Allow to dry for a couple of minutes, then punch the butterfly out and adhere to the card. Thanks for looking. ~Karen.

I love the pretty background you made and I may just have to try that. Your pinecone flower is very pretty and so is the colorful, glittery butterfly.

I would never know your butterfly was not meant to be there. I noticed and I thought what a neat touch. Thanks for describing what you did to make this wonderful card, Karen! I like the font of that CTHM sentiment, too. Great card!

I love this beautiful card, Karen!! The scored background piece that you made is awesome, the butterfly is gorgeous (and not too big), and the floral image is great!! Wonderful art, my friend!
Your black and purple are so striking, and your butterfly is gorgeous! Your bg technique is pretty. Until I read it I thought it was DP. Thanks for explaining it. I will have to try it. Also, I have to try the butterfly technique!

My very first thought was, wow what fabulous dp!!! I nearly fell off my chair when I read that you created it from scratch. Karen it looks fantastic, thanks so much for detailing the technique. I love the flower stamp (thanks for the reminder) and your oopsie butterfly looks gorgeous. Thank you for all the kind comments you leave me - and so many others, you are very generous with your words and time my friend. Hugs.
