Vancouver has been blanketed in snow since December 5th - very unusual for us. But it makes it easy to keep making Christmas cards!
I created my watercolour background first by sprinkling blue and black brushos on coated cardstock. I over-spritzed with water and ending up make the blue more grey than it normally is and not having any of the interesting colour tones the black usually gives. But I quite liked the chilly feel of the colour and I liked the way I got a nice speckled border that makes a natural snowbank. I also liked the dip where I situated the tree as snow often piles up outside the tree's drip line and leaves a hollow where the branches have sheltered the ground a bit.
I stamped the tree in Versamark and heat embossed with a very sparkly embossing powder - hard to capture the sparkle in the photo. But it makes the whole tree look frozen!
I trimmed it down so that I could have more white space around it, popped it up on fun foam and added a few die cut snowflakes.
I originally stamped a smaller sentiment directly on the focal panel but smudged it on the coated cs. I had a different sentiment stamped and heat embossed on regular cs, already die cut and mounted on silver glitter cs sitting in my UFO box, so used that to cover up the smudge!
