Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge #90: http://www.createwithconnieandmary.com/ that required the use of Stampin' Up! Basic Black, Real Red, and Kraft/Crumb Cake colors.
As I've often shared, masculine cards always seem in short supply around my house. They are a bit more of a challenge to make (for me). So the combo of TGIFC's sketch and CCMC's colors seemed a perfect opportunity to create a card for one of the guys in my life (husband, son-in-laws, friends, etc).
I'd like to give credit to Tina Gillespie at https://goo.gl/KOYQac for the inspiration. I changed her colors and placement of some of the elements, but I wouldn't have come up with this card without spotting her card.
I started out with a standard A2 card base in Basic Black. Using the Stampin' Up! Swirly Scribbles Thinlit Dies I cut the swirly wave element using SU Real Red cardstock. I glued this onto the front of the card base using Tombow glue, then using paper snips, trimmed closely along the right side of the "wave" to remove the right side of the card front (thereby allowing the inside of the card to be seen when the card is closed).
I then used the largest swirly circle die to cut the Real Red round element required in the TGIFC sketch. To create an area to stamp a sentiment, I used a 2" circle punch to create a circle of Kraft Cardstock to lay under the swirly circle. I stamped the birthday greeting using two stamps from the Endless Birthday Wishes set, then glued the circle to the back of the red swirly circle. This was then glued down over the vertical swirly "waves" near the vertical center of the card, overlapping to the right beyond the card front.
Three small Real Red stars were added to the front for visual interest.
I think this is highly suitable for a guy since the design is "non-flowery" and the colors are bold.
Thanks to TGIFC and CCMC for the color and sketch challenges!

Great job! I find that masculine cards are so hard to make. I love how you cut the front of the card to show the Kraft card stock inside. Very handsome card. Thanks for stamping along with the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge!

What a great 'guy' card! The swirly set is a good 'go to' for that and love the additional of the stars. Thanks for playing along this week in the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge!
