Today Sabrina challenged us to make a 'Festive Paper Lantern' for TLC618. I used her oval idea. I colored my stamp with markers, huffed, then stamped. After it was totally dry I crimped & added the gold ends. Oops, non-SU is the branch RAK from Jan (PreciousKitty). I found the Asian 'writing' a long time ago at a garage sale - alone - it just says SU. I'm choosing to believe it says Happiness as this is an anniversary card for hubby's cousin & his wife. I even made a Smokey Slate envie.
This was really fun to do & one I think I'd like to do again. Thanks Sabrina, I never would've thought to do this.
Thanks for stopping by.

This is so soft and beautiful! I love the bird on the lantern and the branch! I'm with you, I think the kanji really says happiness or some other positive thought.

Love, love your choice of stamp, Karen. I wish I'd thought of that one though I think I'd have been short on drying time and daylight when I was doing the step-out photos. Beautiful anniversary card, thanks for playing along.

Your lantern turned out GREAT, very ethereal looking - makes me wish I hadn't thrown away my crimper YEARS ago . . . by the way your "chop" is from a set called 'Art of the Orient' circa 2003 - it took me a bit to recognize as it is stamped at an angle (artistic license) The 'leg you have at the 6 o'clock position should be at about 4 to be readable to an Asian

You have used the perfect image for your pretty lantern. The vellum makes a wonderful lantern! The touch of gold for the end caps and cord make this a special card for an anniversary!
