Besides the obvious use of SU cardstock Mint Macaron, Rich Razzleberry, and Delightful Dijon for card base and layers, the holiday lightbulbs were the most fun. I stamped the bulb from SU's 1999 stamp set "Holiday Sampler" (which is full of cute iconic holiday items like trees, candy canes, stockings, etc) onto the three different colors of cardstock using Versamark ink. No colored ink was used except for the sentiment at the top.
After stamping the bulb on the three color cardstock sheets, I heat embossed them using my Heat Tool, and then cut them out by hand (rather tedious, but worth it!). I left a little extra cardstock tab at the base of each bulb so I could fold it back over the wire when I assembled the string of lights.
The string itself is actually green craft wire wound in a couple random loops to fit the white cardstock area. I then folded back the extra tab on each bulb over the wire and attached the tab to the back of the bulb with a Mini Glue Dot. In most cases, this left some of the glue dot exposed so I could tack it down to the white card base to hold the string of lights in position. In a couple cases I had to add an extra glue dot to tack down bulbs. I intentionally let some of the bulb lay outside the white cardstock to emphasize how unruly we all know holiday lights can be when we get them out to hang.
The sentiment was stamped with Hello Honey ink onto Whisper White cardstock, then cut out with one of the mid-sized scalloped Layering Ovals Dies. Too keep the sentiment panel narrow, I used the scalloped oval twice to make it even more "squished" to fit in the space available on the card front.
I gave this card a difficulty rating of "3" only because of the need to hand cut the bulbs... it takes some time and patience to cut out 10 bulbs!
I like the string of lights element on this card, so will incorporate into some of my other Christmas cards over the next month.
