For my card, I wanted to use two stamps that I love and don't use as often as I would like, 1) Hardwood Background & 2) Definitely Dahlia. I also wanted to make this a thank you card so out came my Happy Happenings stamp set.
For the colors I really wasn't sure which direction to go so I broke out my retired color coach and went to Crushed Curry. I guess I selected that color primarily because that's the color of most of the leaves in my yard and remaining on my trees this time of year. As I flipped over to the suggested combo side of the card, I was surprised to find Melon Mambo as one of the suggestions! Not really colors that I would be comfortable picking but life as they say "begins outside of our comfort zone!" So, there you have it. I am still not 100% comfortable with the color combo but life goes on.
Using my Stampin' Trimmer, I cut a Very Vanilla card base 5.5 x 8.5, a layer of Crushed Curry measuring 4 x 5.25, one more layer of Very Vanilla measuring 3.75 x 5 and finally one 2.5 x 3.5 of Very Vanilla & Crushed Curry for my sentiment. Cutting about 99.5% complete!
Inking my sentiment, from Happy Happenings, first in Versa Mark and then into my Crushed Curry I stamped onto my Very Vanilla, sprinkled liberally with SU Clear Embossing and set it with my Heat Tool. I then stamped on my Vary Vanilla layer using my Hardwood background stamp with Crushed Curry ink. Changing ink, I used Melon Mambo on the Definitely Dahlia stamp which I stamped on the left side of the hardwood background. I then used Crushed Curry and my sponge to add color around the edge of the sentiment. My inking is complete!
inking-royalty-blog-hop-zoom-10-2016Next, I used my Decorative Label punch to punch out the sentiment & a blank Crushed Curry to accent/peek out of the edges. Using my paper snips, I cut the Crushed Curry label in ½ and then cut off the center point so that I would have only additional color at the top and the bottom of my sentiment. I attached them to the back using Snail adhesive. I added Stampin Dimensionals to the sentiment and to the hardwood layer. I used snail to adhere the Crushed Curry Layer to the card base.
I used both metallic sequins (gold) and metric enamel shapes (gold circles) to add a little extra and just like that my card was complete!
