Do you ever make a card and then say to yourself, "I'm never parting with this one!"? I hope I'm not the only one! This card kinda evolved, and when it was done, I was pretty happy with the results!
I had no idea what to do with this week's challenge, especially because I mis-remembered exactly what these leaf stamps look like, which is funny since this is one of my all-time favorite stamp sets. Karen is our hostess this week, and she asked us to use Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie. The dessert option is "leaves," and I always try to get in the dessert!
This card is also for Ceal's Falliday Fest challenge, to use the colors of fall on your card. Read all about the Falliday Fest challenges and prizes here, and come join the fun!
I thought I was going to gold emboss the leaves, and then sponge on the color. But when I saw how solid these imges are, I decided that wouldn't work. So I took some white cardstock and just started playing with stamping, "thumping" with a marker, stamping and then selectively removing ink and adding a different color with a marker, etc., each time spritzing with water before stamping, using different combinations of this week's colors. Then I fussy cut all the leaves.
I've been having fun with various alphabet sets. The ones from Altenew and Corcord & 9th are in the brush lettering style, which makes it super easy to link the letters together into words. I decided to make my own sentiment for this card. After stamping the words in Pumpkin Pie, I went over the words and the leaves with Wink of Stella, and mounted the layer on a Crumb Cake top-folding card.
Thanks for stopping by, and please play along with us this week!
