I stayed very close to this week's sketch and since I hadn't yet made my Thanksgiving cards to send to family, I took this opportunity to dig into my Stampin' Up stamp sets to find the perfect turkey to watercolor, The stamp set, "Turkey Talk", was released in 2002 and has cute Pilgrim and Native American children as well as a horn-of-plenty.
I stamped the turkey image onto watercolor paper with Stazon Tuxedo Black ink, then hand colored with the six inks listed above with my Aqua Painter brush. Had to surf the web to find a good turkey image so I made him look pretty realistic.
The rest of the card was pretty straightforward with layering using fall colors. The turkey panel was matted with Calypso Coral, then mounted using adhesive foam strips to give the card depth, as well as to avoid a "lumpy look" if it had been glued down onto the three layers of cardstock in the horizontal panel.
The three dots on the left were from SU Brights Candy Dots. I have had them a while, so had to use 1/2 a Mini Glue Dot each to mount them securely. A full glue dot made the enamel dots too wobbly.
I gave this card a difficulty rating of "3" due to the need to carefully watercolor the turkey. Can't wait to see what my grand-daughter's reaction will be when she gets it in the mail!
