Today's Free for All challenge is "What's Your Interest?" - what do you love to do in your free time? I have many interests but one that is foremost at this time of year is gardening. I have large flower borders and one of my favourite flowers in them are poppies (both oriental poppies and the little California poppies that self sow and pop up in gaps everywhere). The lovely yellow and orange California poppies are starting to bloom and they are so cheerful.
I heat embossed the image in white and painted with my Gansai Tambi watercolour paints. Once the flowers were done and dry, I did the background by laying down a lot of water around the flowers (the embossing powder on the flowers acted as a dam) and then dropped blue paint into the water and let it run where it wanted to.
I find watercolour paper tends to warp when you use a lot of water like I did so I have a pack of kids' fun foam that is adhesive on one side - I stick the image panel (or the bordered image panel in this case) to the adhesive side and it flattens it out perfectly. I cut the fun foam a bit smaller than the panel so it doesn't show even if I've used an odd colour of it (it comes in a pack of multi-colours - wish I could get a whole pack of just white with the adhesive!).

Beautiful. Reminds me of the California poppies that would blanket the hills near my childhood home. Love the colors you used. Lovely card to reflect your love of flowers. TFS
