I had used markers scribbled on acetate to make a BUNCH of shower invitations and still had marker left behind. I decided to freehand some lilacs for today's Mixability Challenge using my paintbrushes. I started with the plum and eggplant mix of marker. I went back with a little Burgundy. I drew in stems with Sahara but later went over them with Suede . I took my plum marker to add some detail back to the lilacs once they were dry. I added shimmery highlights with shimmer paint. I stamped on some leaves then wet my brush with some of the same green and water to make them look more watercolored. I used Soft Sky for the water in my jar that I stamped in Slate. I used my Pale Plum marker to just some selected areas of my Script stamp to add soft script around the painting. I used my extra shimmery paint along the edges of my piece after I'd sponged with Turquoise. I distressed the edges of the painted piece as well as trying to cut my felt to look distressed. I wanted to dry emboss the base, but it was 5x7 and my script ef goes horizontal. So, I just sandwiched the base in my ef and used a rolling pin to go over my base...didn't work so well. My mom would have loved this one as a Mother's Day card. This will be our first Mother's Day without Mom and it takes my breath away to even think about it. Last Mother's Day Mom was awaiting surgery in the morning to remove a brain metastasis and by September she was gone. Hard to take it all in-the creating helps me to cope with it all.

Good job free-handing the pretty lilacs. You made such a pretty card and I'm sure your mother was on your mind the whole time you were making it. I know Mother's Day won't be the same without her.

I am glad you made this beautiful card to ease some of your sadness....the first year after a great loss is so painful. Your beautiful hand drawn lilacs brought back wonderful memories of my own mom....they were her favorite flower. She bumped her head and died of a blood clot a week after my older son turned 2- he is 20 now. I don't think that time lessens the pain, but it does balance it with cherished memories. Sending you comforting hugs.
