It gave me the perfect motivation to finally, finally do something with this stamped image which I blush to admit has been on my desk for almost two years. The stamp was a birthday gift, and not long after receiving it, I stamped it on a page coated with gesso, embossed it, and coloured it with Twinkling H2Os. And, being larger than my regular card, it has sat there ever since. A bit of a miracle that it was still in pristine condition!! So, I just added the sentiment, and then a lot of foliage and flowers. The foliage was stamped using French Foliage and different green inks on several scraps of green DP, and most of the leaves are shaped with a stylus.
For the frame, which was a cheap one from the e2 store, I sanded it and then added torn paper, using Mod Podge for my adhesive. When it was totally dry, I added a coat of gesso. I tried stamping on it, and it looked quite good, but my new fixative doesn't seem to work as well as my last brand - when I started adding the varnish, the stamped images smudged and blurred. Thankfully I was going for an old look so I was OK with that. Two coats of varnish, and then I added the picture into the frame, tucking some of the leaves and flowers over it, and adding a couple to trail out in one corner.
Thanks, Lisa!!

Oh My Gosh! this is fantastic! Love that you saved your image, and I agree - it was amazing that it was still usable. If it was on my crafty space for to long it might be doodled on, or torn, crumpled etc. I love that this came together perfectly!

This is a work of ART!! I love your bird..so glad you finally used this piece. The watercoloring is so shimmery looking and the addition of those leaves and flowers around the frame is beautiful. It's like we're peeking into a tree and spotting the singing bird. And that frame is awesome...what a brilliant idea....it goes perfectly with your piece!!
