I was stumped with the inspiration challenge (maybe overwhelmed) until today when a light bulb went off with this color combination, #8,https://designschool.canva.com/blog/...-combinations/.
I masked off the paper and swiped peeled paint ink then misted it with water. I stamped the bird using barn door distress stain, then alternated coloring with mustard seed distress stain. I used brushed corduroy at the bottom for the ground. Stamped foliage with peeled paint. I stippled mustard seed and tiny bits of barn door to the background. I used the xs black artist pen to very lightly outline the bird and return texture lines that got washed out when I watercolored the bird. There is a glittery sheen to his back and legs when I used a glitter gel pen to darken. I am finally getting to use my word stickers I bought months ago. Please forgive my torn corner (upper right) when I removed washi tape, it pulled the paper. Any suggestions how to repair? or embellish to hide?

A Beautiful array of colors for your bg and sweet birdie! If your torn edge were not taped down, I'd say to use a corner rounder or corner punch on it. How about a piece of hardware or small bow using a sticky dot to adhere? Or even just a piece of looped ribbon.

This is one of my all time faves on this site; I pinned it for inspiration. Maybe you have a piece of Washi for the corner? If I received it I would be framing it, and the frame would hide the boo-boo.
