The blue background was inspired by Gayatri Murali's card found here using a cool technique of masking the main flowers and coloring the negative background space instead, giving a cool modern look to the card. I used the flowers and leaves from peony scrolls from Altenew and cut a mask for each stamp multiple times using masking paper from inkadinkado. After all masks were cut and placed, I very, very carefully used a small blending tool to blend distress inks salty ocean and mermaid lagoon on the negative space only. The few places the mask slipped or came up I covered with white gel pen which helped, but did not completely cover the blue spots. After the background was completely dry, I added it to some gold card stock at an angle and cut off the edges and adhered it to the Bermuda Bay top folding card base. Next was to create the frame using Sizzix scalloped rectangle frames and the Martha Stewart caning punch. Cut out the frame with the third smallest die and punch the caning punch in a pattern from gold cardstock. Adhere the caning punch pattern to the back of the frame. Add fun foam and glue to the card. To make the peony scrolls flowers, first heat emboss the vellum with ranger super fine gold embossing powder and lightly watercolor with salty ocean distress ink with a wet paint brush and gold metallic water color inks from zig kuretake metallic water color pallets set of 12. Let dry and cut out and adhere to card using tombow for first layer and cleartak clear foam adhesives. Stamp the label love sentiment with versafine and heat emboss with clear embossing powder. Add foam and adhere to the card. Finish with SU metallic gold sequins from the metallics collection.
