I happened to be colouring this image on Friday while I was on the phone - so when I saw Lori's "Stop and Smell the Roses" HYCCT challenge yesterday, I thought I'd make it into a card for that. By sheer coincidence, I had coloured the roses yellow with a blush of orange/pink, so this Basic Grey paper added some more roses in a perfect colour match.
Image stamped on Bristol Board and coloured with pencils, then I sponged the edges with Antique Linen and matted onto Bazzill.
I added, for a garden feel, a trellis cut from pearlescent white card, and underneath the image, a lace border cut from a scrap. Finished it off with a sentiment and some pink sparkly butterflies. I do believe this is the only square card I am sending off, which must be a record for me!
Stop and smell the roses always reminds me of Ferdinand the Bull, by Munro Leaf. My mother had it when she was a child, and I always remember her saying she was so disillusioned to realise that corks didn't grow in little bunches on trees as in the wonderful illustrations. Ferdinand loved nothing better than smelling the flowers.
