I lost my best friend to this awful disease and made this card in her honor. Sunflowers were her favorite flower. The absence of pink was on purpose. She never liked the color. She worked very hard to hide her illness and treatment from her young children so you would never see her wearing a pink ribbon. I still admire her strength so many years later. When I think of her and her kids and what they have missed, it makes me realize how important the little things are.
Thanks so much for looking and for listening.

This is lovely and I'm glad that are able to remember your friend in this special way. I remember my sister each year in a special way much like you did. The yellow color is uplifting and I hope you have happy memories of your friend tucked away. Thanks for contributing to Dina's hand challenge and glad you are with us in the HYCCT challenge gallery.

I love the back story to this lovely card; what an awesome way to honor your friend! Your pieced dress and beautiful coloring along with the lovely non-pink papers makes a gorgeous card!
