For today's All Different Directions TLC challenge from Judy.
Title comes from the fact that when I used to learn the piano, I had books of finger exercises called "A Dozen a Day" - and I stamped the flower from Embrace Life a dozen times on this. I had the idea when I read the challenge before work. Monday is always housework day - but since I already have dinner made and it was too wet for washing the floors to make any sense, I was able to grab some stamping time during my gallery mod shift.
I used a compass to draw a circle on white card, then marked off every 60 degrees round it. I drew a smaller circle inside and repeated the process, offsetting the markings to bisect the previous ones. With LOTS of masking (and three attempts, due to smudging), using a SAMJ, I stamped the flower 6 times for the centre and 6 times round the outer edge, and added leaves. Coloured with pencils, die-cut and layered. The base was a bit plain but I didn't want to fancy it up too much, so I cut a Fleur de Lis square from the same card as the base, cut it in quarters, embossed it and "exploded" it. I'd love some of the 6" embossing folders, but my budget is tight just now, so this was my way round to cover a good amount of the base.
And now it's time to go and make bread, or there'll be nothing for DH's lunch tomorrow!

Sabrina, this card is STUNNING!!! It absolutely blew me away. What amazing stamping and coloring, your masking skills are fantastic, and I love the resulting floral masterpiece!!! What a beautiful use of die-cuts, this is wonderful!!! I absolutely LOVE this card!!! I'm always drawn to amazing floral cards and my eye caught this gorgeous card on the gallery, and I just HAD to take a closer look, and when I did, I was even MORE impressed. SO lovely!!! You've taken the embellishment to just the right level so that the flowers still take center stage--this is something that I struggle with, so thanks for showing me a wonderful example of getting it just right.
I too remember that piano book, "A Dozen A Day", and the title startled me for that reason, and I loved it that you used it--a little walk down memory lane for me too. Music has been a big part of my life, and it all started with those piano and flute lessons when I was a little girl, and remembering those piano books was fun! Thanks, Sabrina!!!

First I want your terrific sense of design, next I want your creativity, and finally, I want your patience.... oh, and you can toss in your cooking, music, and sewing ability too. To measure both circles and stamp the image so many times would have sent me into a tail spin. The result is magnificent. There are not enough words to describe how pretty this is. When I put this much work into making my own image, I make a black and white copy that I can use as a "stamp" to print onto cardstock if I want to use it again.
