The focus is to make a card for our guys using a faux finish.
In my case, I used a technique I learned from Kristina Werner and created a Faux night sky. You can see her demonstrate her technique here.
I started by colouring my Bugaboo Stamp – Martian Fly with Copic markers. I fussy cut him out and set him aside. I made two versions of the card (vertical and horizontal). I used sentiments from Waltzingmouse Stamps – Half Pint Heroes and Paper Smooches -Space Cadet.
To make the night sky I used Tim Holtz’s Distress Paints – Salty Ocean, Black Soot, Picket Fence, Evergreen Bough, and Mustard Seed. I blotted them on my craft mat, misted them with water, and smooched my watercolour paper into the paint about three times. I dried the paper between. Once I had it the way I liked, I added a few dots of white paint using a dotter (McGill – Paper Blossom Tool Kit). I also added a little shimmer by misting the background with clear Tattered Angel Pearl Spray. I thought these would make wonderful little Valentine Cards for two special little guys in my life!
