The images were colored with Chameleon pens which are alcohol inks with a built in chamber of blending solution and the nibs are designed to absorbs the solution into the ink section evenly so when coloring the pen lays down a light color and the more you color the darker the shade gets. Also, the longer you hold the ink nib to the blender nib makes a difference is how long the shade darkens. I've gotten pretty good with my counts and it only takes a seconds to achieve the right blend.
