A big congrats to Karren, the newest Featured Stamper! Such a fabulous gallery she has! Lots I want to case, but I was drawn to THIS really cute card. I kept the Christmas theme and colors, but I donÂ’t have anything like those cute little Christmas kitties, so I used different images, an oval instead of a square & a grid die instead of the scallops & twine & moved the greeting.
I’ve always loved this candy cane image & for a quite a while I’ve wanted to try the “no line” technique. Well, it’s harder than I imagined. I stamped the image w/ gray ink (so it wouldn’t really show) then carefully colored it with Copics. I definitely need more practice with this technique, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. I added a white grid die cut w/ a red background and a fussy cut holly image to finish it.
Congrats again, Karren! Thanks so much for looking! It's just been posted: The Write Stuff

Beautiful card, Julie. Your coloring is fabulous. Using the gray ink and using a no line technique is perfect for these candy canes. The sides are so soft. Gorgeous card design and pops of color.

Julie, this is GORGEOUS!!! That candy cane image is so vibrant, looks like I could reach out and touch it (OK...eat it I LOVE candy canes!), that is amazing!!! Love too how you've balanced the red with touches of that gorgeous green. Definitely a card for my favorites! I don't have a candy cane stamp--yet, but I think I'll now be in the market for one...

So pretty, Julie. The no line stamping looks real good to me; and I agree is it much harder than I would have thought. You have really achieved a lot of depth with these candy canes. Like that grid too!

Wow - such gorgeous coloring. I have tried the gray ink technique as recent as this week and gave up yet again - but yours is beautiful and makes me want to try again. What a pretty case Julie. Love it! Hugz!
