This is my card for the MIX78 challenge "Part of the Package" - to use some kind of packaging on your project, either as a tool or a layer, and for the CAS278 challenge "Color Crawl Palette" - to use colors from a gorgeous palette of spring greens and blues.
I knew when I received this box in the mail a couple of weeks ago I would use it to make cards, so the MIX challenge was great timing!
After I cut the pieces from the box, I flattened them by running through the Big Shot several times. I trimmed the houndstooth piece and die cut the flower. After coloring it with Prismacolors, I decided it needed to be smaller, and covered it with wax paper before cutting, thinking to protect it. The well-used cutting plate impressed a pattern into the wax paper and some of the color stuck to it when I peeled it off, leaving a vertical stripe "uncolored" across my flower, and a faint waxy stripe across the background. I was going to repair it, but after looking at for a while, I decided I liked it. I painted over the flower with Wink of Stella and started on the card base.
The front bottom edge and back of the card were masked with Post-it notes and stamped and heat embossed, then the sentiment was added to the lower edge of the card front and heat embossed. I used detail clear ep. The embossing doesn't show up well in the photo, but it's very evident IRL.
The houndstooth piece is attached directly to the base; the focal is adhered with black foam squares.
As always, thanks for looking!

That's from a box?? It all looks like designer paper! I absolutely love the clear embossing on black, something that never crossed my mind and how elegant it is! You descriptions are so fun to read! You do come up with some of the most clever ideas, Jody! Love the bright colors in your flower against the darker, more subtle background.

That black background adds a heap of drama to your card! I love the beige and black combination. The CAS Colour Palette colours really draw the eye to your focal point. Great card!
