It was such a pleasure to work on this card today, knowing I was honoring my friend, Maura. Our card styles are so very different, yet I always find myself very attracted to her clean-lined look. There is something so visually soothing to my eye.
I used Maura's Birthday Stars as my inspiration. I used rhinestones instead of enamel dots, a different die and sentiment stamp, as well as patterned paper. It was great to get a few more scraps out of my drawers! Not one Copic marker was used to color anything on this card, Maura! I love this inlaid look, but when a few tiny pieces went missing, some words of frustration echoed in my craftroom!
Congrats, Friend! Love to see your work featured on Splitcoast.

Cathy, I LOVE it! I love how you used pp for your insets - as always you put together a lovely combination that works beautifully! And no copic markers! Wow, you were really pushing the envelope on this one! And yes, keeping track of the little pieces is the challenge with this technique. But when it all fits, it sooooo satisfying, isn't it?

I love the inlaid die technique and this is fabulous! I learned from jennifer McGuire to put all the pieces in a bowl so you don't lose any - boy did that help me out a lot!
