Our cards are going to an amazingly brave little 6 year old boy from Texas. Young Austin has an extremely rare medical condition and he is also blind. He loves receiving cards and touches them to 'see' what they are like.
I made a card of the letter 'A' and covered both sides and the insides with high tactile cardboard and paper. The corrugated board was a RAK from our very own Miss Kathleen Lammie from Alabama. The cowboy, horse, boots, sayings etc was from a gorgeous 6 x 6 paper pad. Unfortunately I used the cover on an earlier project and now I don't know the brand. All the papers are highly embossed, so there are list of little things for Austin to feel.
I am off to craft camp on Friday, we have 4 days and 3 nights of hysterical laughter, lots of food and a bit of card making. I have been packing and sorting my craft stuff all day. I found things that I didn't even know I had lost, but more importantly I found where the terrible "road kill/dead something" smell was coming from.
Remember when I started a small fire when using my heat gun to get the moulding paste off the wall where my Martha Stewart punch made a big hole? You may also remember that I had a vase of roses on my craft desk at the time. Initially I tried to swat the fire out with a few roses, but a rose fell down into the wall cavity at which point I just threw the water on the wall........ok we are all caught up now, I shall continue. There has been the most awful smell slowly building in my craft area, I thought the rose in the wall cavity had rotted.....not so, when I was cleaning up my desk today I discovered a sausage wrapped in cling wrap!! Remember the frozen sausage “brayer”, well I apparently forgot to throw it out. In my defense it was scrunched up in the aluminium foil I use as a craft mat. I only share this story as a reminder to always dispose of your frozen sausage brayer in a timely manner.

Susie, you are hilarious! I may never look at a frozen sausage the same way thanks to your story. I love your creative thinking. The textured "A" looks great and I bet it will feel fun and fabulous to Austin.

What a fantastic creation and it is perfect for this special little boy. We would be perfect togther... my "horrible, it smells like bad bathroom deodorizer sprey" couch after I tried to remove the doggie scent, and your "road kill" craft room. I look forward each werk to checking out your cards. They are always fantastic and your stories are too funny. Have fun at stamp camp.

What a great card for Austin. How wonderful that you designed this so it would be something special for him to feel. I so need to do this challenge.
As far as your story of the sausage - that is soooo funny! Sounds like something I would do! So glad you found it and have fun at craft camp!!! Hugz - lots of them!

What a fantastic card...he is going to love all this texture.
As always, I so enjoyed your story, and I can so relate...just ask my grandchildren about the time Grandmom had this terrible odor in the car that I coudn't find. I searched everywhere INSIDE my car...sprayed and sprayed to try to get rid of it...
(it ended up being from my trunk where a small bag of forgotten eggs from the supermarket were tucked all the way back in the end of my trunk...rotten eggs probably were very similar to your sausage.

This is such a neat card Susie. Lots of texture going on here. Perfect for Austin.
I wish I was off to stamp camp with you..............it sounds like tons and tons fun.
I just love hearing your stories Susie!!! This happened to me once years ago when my girls were small. I had taken an old coffee can and cut a rectangle in the plastic top to slide soup labels I was saving for school donations. I had in my pantry. All of a sudden I started to smell this awful smell and could not figure out where in the world it was coming from. I searched high and low. After a few days, I went to take the labels I had collected to send with the girls to school, and I soon found out what the smell was...........a mouse had gotten into the house and must have climbed or fell into that coffee can through the slot and couldn't get out!!!!!!!!! Needless to say, those soup labels never made it to school!!!!!!!!!!!!!
