A card for Sharon's 'You can do it challenge' to do water based marker blending and also for this week's Way to Use it challenge to use buttons. This is the first time I have tried water based marker blending and I'm not all that happy with the results. Maybe I was using the wrong paper. I found that the paper pilled a bit. I used a rather large image and ended up with a lot of white, so I decided to sponge around the edges with yellow. This will be used for my neighbour's birthday next week.

It's not easy layering with water-based markers, for me anyway, and I've tried Karen Barber's tutorial several times. Watercolour paper is the best bet but if you used that and it still pilled, I don't know what the answer is! I love the bright sunshine feel of this, and the diagonal of the buttons, the foliage and the butterfly is very effective. I really like the button layered on the little crochet flower.

Ina, no clue why you are unhappy with this. It is photographed perfectly and I sure don't see the pills! LOVE the warm, sunny colors and the white space you created.
