This is my card for the MIX54 challenge "Hearts" - to use all kinds of HEARTS on your cards/projects! It also works for F4A207 challenge to show your valentines.
This started with a piece of watercolor paper that I dragged through excess stains and shimmer sprays that pooled on the paper protecting my work surface. If you really want to know details you can read about colors, etc. here: Mix51 CAS256 Mixed Media Valentine by jodylb at Splitcoaststampers
I stamped the bg stamp with VersaMark and heat embossed using clear ep. Next I swiped over it with Black Soot Distress paint to color the negative images of the stamp and used a damp rag to remove the paint from the embossing. This grayed out the black areas a bit, so when the paint was dry I rubbed the VersaMark pad over the entire image and embossed with clear ep. I missed a couple of spots, so I added more VersaMark and powder and heated it again. The resulting differences in depth and texture of the embossing don't show in the picture but it looks pretty cool! What you also can't see in the photo is the metallic sheen on some of the runs and drips, but it's very noticeable IRL.
I trimmed the piece, leaving the torn edge at the bottom, and made the card base from metallic paper. The letters were cut from glossy black cs and glued to the image, which is attached to the base with foam tape for dimension.
Because this is so shiny, it was difficult to get a good picture; this doesn't do it justice. I love how this turned out, and I hope my husband does, too, since it's his valentine!
As always, thanks for looking!

I really like your mix of stamps that you used on this..it looks very cool! I know what you mean about photos not showing the nuances of these mixed media cards..they are hard to photograph. Great job on this!
