In keeping with my recent trend, I'm tripling up on challenges as I don't have as much time to stamp now that the home school year is upon me. I wanted to CASE a card to honor past queen Shadow's Mom aka Lee-Anne as we are doing a QFTD Review. I don't think I was playing in the queen challenges back when Lee-Anne was queen but I appreciate her kind comments and love her style! I chose to CASE this cool mixed media card. I had a stamp from the same company that I thought of when I saw her card. Obviously, I couldn't do the cool thing she did with her wings, so I chose to make a denim flower instead to meet today's MIXABILITY challenge to use fabric. I simply snipped every 1/4" along my denim strip then rolled it up and smooshed it onto a sticky sheet circle. I prepared my bg piece with a dictionary page with white Gesso, followed by some grey Gesso through a wire mesh piece. The grey globbed up so I wiped a bunch of it off. Well, my used wipe on my desk had blue ink on it and it smeared into the wet Gesso and made a cool effect! I sponged a bit more blue on after stamping my image and sentiment. I decided to add some stickles clouds to the top. I'm also counting this in the Free For All Fairy tale challenge as we all know the last line of every good fairy tale!

This is fantastic. I really need to buy an OLD used dictionary and do this technique more often. I love the look, and great way to combine all the challenges. Thx for the inspiration :-)

This is really cool, Gail! You have so much going on (guess it's all those challenges) on this interesting card! Love the material, dictionary page, and the nursery rhyme too! This must be the house that Jack built?

Great card! Isn't that the great joy of mixed media? Wiping, sponging, and all of a sudden we have a cool effect we didn't necessarily know we were going to achieve? It's like a surprise every time I sit down to play mixed media. I love your fun surprises! I love the gorgeous colors and your denim is so much fun!!!!
