I just had to make a card using yesterday's technique challenge - Metal Foil Tape Art.
Last May I took a class with Tim Holtz and we did this technique - covering a paper mache heart with foil pieces - piercing, lining, distressing - and I bought all the supplies for doing it when I was at the class! (and never picked up the materials again!)
BUT - for my background today - I used an embossing folder called Riveted Metal (Tim Holtz Alterations Sizzix folder) on one 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" of metal foil paper that Tim told us about at the class - sure saves lots of time to get the same effect!
BUT - feeling like I cheated using it - I did add some more circles with my click pen and some line frames inside some of the boxes! I just happened to have a tube of the Rub n Buff cream in Autumn Gold that was shown in the video posted with the challenge so I added that to the foil after adding and wiping off the black acrylic paint.
My cute little aviator is a digital image from Octopode Factory named Steam Punk Nipper Winston. I colored him with copics. The sentiment is from Waltzingmouse and I die cut it with a Wonky Rectangle Nestability. Both are layered onto the foil with foam dots.
This is such a super fun technique Judy - thanks for all the samples Jane and the link to the You Tube video!

What a cute card, and I am dying to try this technique. Haven't found the metal tape yet.

Really cool card Julia...it looks like a lot of work even if you say it wasn't. I'm jealous that you got to take a Tim H class..I went to your blog to check it out..what fun! I like your Steam Punk guy..Nipper Winston..what a moniker!

Oh this is awesome, Julia. I love that embossing folder, and I didn't even know there was foil paper. So much you can do with this technique for all the guys in our life - both young and old. Love this.
