This is my card for round 3 of the CAS Summer Design Team search. For this one we were to be inspired by the song I must say that the song really hit home with me. My DH was in the Navy for 25 years and the last 11 he spent behind a desk in a job that wasn't what he had in mind when he joined the Navy. He basically gave up going to sea, which he loved, for the sake of our family. So, the song line which spoke the most to me was, "and never again I'll go sailing." I wanted to evoke from the song lyrics the golden sands and the idea of watching for a ship to come in, and the longing I know my DH felt at times for life at sea. I tore a mask and sponged my sand with More Mustard and Crumb Cake. I stamped the tiny spatter in Crumb Cake. Then I masked over this and added another mask for the horizon and sponged Baja Breeze for my sea. Last was a sponged sky in Soft Sky using a cloud template. I stamped my sea grass in Old Olive and framed the image panel with Sahara Sand. My sentiment was stamped in Soft Suede and I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up my sentiment. Good luck to all in Round Three!

What a sweet story of sacrifice and your card is just as beautiful as is the story that inspired it! I wish you well in the final rounds.

Wow, Gail! This is absolutely beautiful!!! Your personal story is touching! Your DH's personal sacrifice must mean so much to your family and your card really seems to portray what he must have felt at times over those last 11 years!
