I have recently started experimenting with mixed media scrapbooking, so I was delighted when I came to know about the mixed media challenge at SCS. I visited Andrea Ewen's blog and she mentioned that this fairly new challenge started a few weeks ago. I immediately went to see what it was all about. I enjoy the mixed media scrapbooking so much that I decided to see if I could do the same on cards as well.
I had a look at Dini's video on working with black and I've learned a lot. What I've done in the end is a bit different from what Dini did in her video, but I like how it has turned out.
For the flower panel I have worked with 3 different distress inks on my craft sheet - sprayed it with water and put my cardstock face down on the wet craft sheet - lift it up for a lovely background effect. I then stamped my flowers with staz-on onto the background and the only black that I've added is the coloring of the centres of the flowers with a ordinary black colored pencil. Very simple, but I love the look of it.
I've shaded the torn edges with distress ink (Black Soot).
For the bigger panel, I've done some shading with dry wall tape and distress inks again. I added dry wall tape to the top left and bottom right corners using texture paste. I did some stamping on the panel as well.
To round off my card I added some corrugated cardboard pieces, a small piece of a paper doiley, some washi tape and die-cut pieces. Finally I sprayed the completed card with some Perfect Pearls Mist.
That's it for my first mixed media card - had a lot of fun making it!!
TFL and have a great day!
