I hadn't had a chance to play in last week's mixed media where we were to create a modern art piece using a new technique for us. Today's Technique Lovers Challenge was to honor our hostess with the mostest, Joan with either a CASE of one of her cards or to use one of the techniques she's shared with us in the past. When I saw Sallie's card today I knew I wanted to try the "Pounded Flowers" technique. Luckily I didn't have to fight any bears in my yard (as one of the players did when the technique was first posted) to pick some wild violets. I used watercolor paper to run my flowers through the Big Shot to get the colors of the flowers and stems as the start of my mix. I then used a paintbrush and ink from my ink pad lids to add some: Wisteria Wonder, Concord Crush and Pear Pizzazz. I scribbled a Ballet Blue marker on acetate and added water to wash my bg. Then I used Perfect Plum and Wild Wasabi markers to add more definition and some "impressionist dots" to my violets. I used a Sahara Sand marker to add some shading around them and then took two petal shaped MS chalk inks to add some extra blues in the bg and edges. I framed with Concord Crush and created a scored frame on Pear Pizzazz base. I stamped my sentiment in Concord Crush. I splattered a few water drops and pulled off a bit of color in spots.
I have photos of the process on my blog
