This is one of two projects for the MIX14 challenge this week to create something new and different from what you usually do with at least two kinds of color medium.
For this card, I applied gesso to an old encyclopedia page, let it dry and stamped the Hero Arts Flower Text image with VersaFine Vintage Sepia. The flowers are colored with colored pencils and layered with shimmer watercolors. I used a Sharpie for the flower centers and stamens, and coated with two coats of yellow Gelly Roll Glaze pen for shine and dimension. The dots around the flower centers are also touched with a Glaze pen in a deep wine color.
After the flowers were colored, the actual outline of the stamp kind of disappeared in places, so I went over the entire image with a Sharpie to give it better definition. I tore the edges of the image, dragged them across a Vintage Photo Distress Ink pad and rubbed a little of the color toward the center of the image. You can't really see it in the photo, but I rubbed a little dust from a soft blue pastel into the background.
When I adhered the image to the base, I left the edges free. The curl of the paper adds a feel of dimesion on an otherwise flat card (which is where I REALLY leave my comfort zone, lol!)
The sentiment was stamped with with Vintage Sepia and outlined with a clear Glaze pen. The center of the tiny flower has a dot of yellow Glaze.
As always, thanks for looking!

Terrific background! I bet you were squirming wanting to glue down those the corners...but it does look great! Outlining the images and using such pretty colors makes this a happy card!

I know what you mean about distressed edges that aren't glued flat! I never quite know when they are going to look good, or when I'm going to ruin something doing them. But you made the right call here! This focal piece is absolutely charming - I love the colors you used and the soft shimmer and the text BG. And it looks fabulous curling off the card. Love it!
