I took a class on using Distress reinkers at one of my local stores (Scrap Arts in North Vancouver, Canada) taught by the talented Janni Kretlow - she's a master at using all the Distress products. One of the techniques we did was watercolouring with reinkers and we got to use her full set of Distress reinkers - wonderful to have so many colours to choose from. I did a light wash on the background of this image, and then coloured the image with darker greens, browns, and a touch of red to capture the colour of a pear. I kept the cut-away side of the pear pale.
When I got home I turned the piece into this card. I added a bit of Frayed Burlap ink around the edges for definition, mounted it with dimensionals on a dull green cs run through the Swiss dots ef, and used a rustic cream cs for the base. It will make a great masculine birthday card for a friend who is a botanist!
