Then I added some Ranger alcohol ink in lettuce to the foil. But when I went to sand it to show a little silver, it was too thin to hold up to the sanding. So next, I painted the whole thing with gesso, let that dry, added more lettuce ink and then lightly sanded to expose the silver. Then I rubbed some Early Espresso dye ink on for a little aging. The dye ink stayed on because of the gesso - you definitely don't want to use dye inks right on the metal layer.
Then I colored my Young Vermilion image with Caran D'Ache Pablo colored pencils and added some ]Crumb Cake seam binding.
Thanks for looking - now come play along!

You have no idea how comforting it is for the goddess of paper to relate to us her forays into the crafty Twilight Zone...beautiful results if by a circuitous route. Love the colors and your gorgeous bow.

Your metal bg turned out great even though you had to work to get it where you wanted it. Love the soft colors on your pretty bird too. I appreciate that so many have described their process as I'm learning as I go through the gallery. I might be ready to try the metal challenge tomorrow morning.
