I was out of town this weekend watching my youngest 3 kids swim in a big meet. I had wanted to get a project made for the mixability challenge on Friday before I left, but with a migraine on Thursday I just didn't get the chance....pesky laundry and packing and stuff like that! At any rate, I did slide down to the stamping cave and stamp/emboss a couple of images using my new Swallowtail butterfly stamp.
For this project, which I plan to end up framing, I used a piece of National Geographic magazine page CitraSolve magic paper that I created a while back. I stamped the image in Versafine Onyx and embossed in black detail ep. I missed a bit of my stamping and when I went back to restamp, I was off just a bit and ended up with a slight halo and double antennae. I used markers to color my image and added extra highlights with both red and white gel pens. I added some depth around my image with a Sahara Sand marker. I then masked off my butterfly and sprayed with homemade blue and Tsukineko Terra Cotta Walnut Ink sprays. For my verse-I cut the words and letters out of the newspaper in my hotel room (and a flyer I had on hand as well).
If you'd like to see a couple of close ups I blogged about it here.

Awesome work Gail! I really like the way you used cut up text to make your own text. And your CitraSolv paper looks great as a background which almost looks like granite. The mix of the heavy (rock), the light (butterfly) and the man made (text) make for a very interesting composition.
And thanks for letting me use your upload for a sample this week. {I've got something funny to show you on Friday. ;)}
