For this week's CAS challenge, the theme is "Love is in the air." That begs a valentine, but I've already finished my valentines for the year, so I did a birthday bird with hearts. I used the punched out hearts from the border punch to float away from the bird.
For this week's technique challenge, we're to dry emboss and sand some dp. I really like the divine swirls on this birthday text paper. I think it almost looks like white stamped over the color-- Whether it shows up in the photo? Eh.
I used viva la verve's second February sketch for the layout.

Wow Brenda! I love the look of the sanded embossing-I thought you had a window sheet with white flourishes over dp until I looked at your description! Really cute card with the heart accents!

Oh, it shows up beautifully, Brenda - and it does look like paint. Hmm, I tried two different papers and I didn't get anything like that effect. And I just love your bright happy blue and sweet bird.

Really love the sanded swirls on the birthday paper...so whimsical and fun! Beautiful colors, Brenda! Love how you colored the little bird...so very pretty!
Terrific card! These have been my favorite paired colors since I was 10! I just love that shade of blue and pink together!!! The bird is adorable! Too cute the way you shaded the bird! It does look like white stamped over the DP or stamping on acetate! It's MARVELOUS!
