What a fun and exciting new challenge! I decided to keep it simple and do what Lydia did in her video, so I started with a piece of text paper. I mixed up some white and blue acrylic paint, thinned it out with water, and applied this glaze-y blue paint to my text paper.
Once it dried, I stamped the flower with Versamark and covered it with Copper Twinkle embossing powder (bought it at Stamp Salado years ago) and heated it up. The blue background was just too blue for me, so I sponged some Antique Linen distress ink around the edges, and then sponged some Chocolate Chip ink around the Antique Linen-ed edges.
I glued this painted and embossed piece down on a Chocolate Chip card base. I fiddled around with ribbon, a stamped sentiment, a few doo-dads, but nothing looked right. I decided a simple die cut letter sentiment would be just right, so I cut the letters out to spell "hi" and glued them down on the blue painted background.
Thanks for a great introduction to mixed media, Lydia! I'm looking forward to the next challenge!!
