I'm not sure what people think of when you mention Minnesota..farms perhaps? MN Vikings? Well there are many aspects to our state. I live in a fairly large metropolitan area but about an hour away there's a whole other world. Minnesotans refer to it as "Up North". Many folks have cabins on one of the 10,000+ lakes..there are resorts..the Boundary Waters Canoe Area...areas of thick forestation. Anyway this is my depiction of how the holidays would be "Up North". (Disclaimer: we don't have mountains which the window seen shows..call it artistic license.) Almost forgot..my inspiration today came from this fur floor pillow.

Oh my goodnesss, I love your fur rug! Believe it or not, my Mom shot a black bear which came too close to our house in Alaska and the bear skin hung over the banister in our house for years!
I LOVE that plaid chair too! I feel lucky that I get to visit northern Minn. every so often with my sister there!

I love the cozy scene you have created, every detail is wonderful!
My grandma was the youngest of 8, born on a farm in Minnesota. She was the only one born in th U.S.; the family had just immigrated from Finland. Her stories about walking miles in the snow to school were only slightly embellished, lol! She left there as a young woman, but lived to be 102! Must have been something about the dairy products she so loved?

Polly, I would LOVE to live in this cabin, sipping my hot cocoa on the bear skin rug while watching the soft snow swirling to the ground! (Maybe I should have been a writer.....) Beautiful decorated tree and I love the window treatment too! It's ashame you don't have any mountains though. I see mountain ranges no matter which direction (in this area) I look, from the back and the front of my house. So peaceful.....
